Parekraf Targets Facilitating 200 Jakpreneurs to Register HKI

This year, Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Agency will facilitate 200 fostered micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) or Jakpreneurs to register Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) to Directorate General of Intellectual Property of Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

In 2021, only 85 of 100 fostered Jakpreneurs who have met the administrative and technical requirements have received trademark rights certification

Jakarta Parekraf Agency's Creative Economy Division Head, Helma Dahlia mentioned, Jakpreneurs facilitated in this year would be doubled from the previous year.

"In 2021, only 85 of 100 fostered Jakpreneurs who have met the administrative and technical requirements have received trademark rights certification. However, the remaining will still be assisted and re-submitted," she conveyed, Friday (1/14).

She assessed that brand needed to be registered because it was very important for MSMEs to show identity of product or service belonging to MSMEs. Besides, brand could also distinguish one product from another.

Moreover, brand was also important as a tool and marketing strategy to build image and reputation of the product. Trademark rights could also be licensed or franchised thus they could get direct source of income in form of royalty.

"Not only free, Jakpreneurs whose business will be registered can get assistance in filling out forms, requirements that must be completed, logo ownership, logo design, and benefits that can be obtained," she mentioned.
